Why an Eye Examination is Important During a comprehensive eye exam, your optometrist does much more than just determine your prescription. They will also check for common eye diseases, assess how your eyes work together, and evaluate your eyes as an indicator of your overall health.
NHS Health Checks Available In Scotland, your eye examination is paid for by the NHS under “General Ophthalmic Services” (GOS). This service is more extensive than in other parts of the UK, recognizing the importance of regular eye examinations.
